KING AND GODFREE A Melbourne food institution since 1884. Originally a grocery store, King and Godfree has been transformed into a new food and lifestyle precinct. The original building has been restored and exciting new venues have been added in keeping with the buildings Italian heritage. The King & Godfree store has been in the Valmorbida family since 1955, when Carlo Valmorbida became one of Lygon Steet’s first Italian food pioneers, helping introduce the likes of parmesan cheese, olive oil and pasta to the wider Australian audience. True to classic Italian culture, the new King and Godfree is bringing the style, energy and hospitality back to Carlton.
