Trattoria Emilia

For nearly eight years Emilia was home to what was known as Gill’s Diner, an infamous Melbourne eatery started by Con Christopoulos and Chris Kerr. Although the modern european menu won over plenty, Christopoulos dreamt of one day turning Gill’s into an authentic Italian restaurant.

Early in 2015 these dreams suddenly seemed like a reality when he met chefs Francesco Rota and Luca Flammia of Modena, a small town located in the Emilia Romagna region of Italy known for its slow food and fast cars. Along with front of house manager Matteo Neviani, also from the same region, the owners and chefs of Emilia want to pay homage to beautiful Italian food and find focus on fresh pasta and a recreation and exploration of Modenese food.
