Mister Hoffman is looking for a Head Chef to lead the kitchen team. We are looking for a person with a positive attitude, an eye for detail & someone who takes pride in their craft.

The Head Chef will be responsible for ensuring that the standard and quality of the food production and the hygiene within the kitchen is maintained at the highest level at all times. This role is very much hands-on, requiring attention to detail and an inspiring work attitude. You will need to have a proven ability to work in high pressure situations with a positive communication style. The role will involve partnering effectively with the FOH team and management. Leadership experience is essential, including a strong understanding of stock control and ordering, food costing, labour management and inventory procedures.

Main Tasks:


  • Menu Development
    • Create new ideas to ensure an amazing food experience for our customers, whilst reflecting seasonal local produce particularly through our weekly ‘Specials’
    • Ensure menu items planned are profitable and reflect demand
  • Supervise the preparation of all food
    • Present a strong work ethic, taking pride in the quality and consistency of the food produced 
    • Ensure all food is prepared as per food preparation requirements
    •  Ensure meals are produced on time and presented well (you need to be able to manage busy spurts)
    •  Maintain stock levels of all kitchen supplies
  • Oversee and supervise all kitchen staff
    • Ensure all kitchen staff are aware of their duties and what is expected of them
    •  Teach new staff skills they require to perform their roles to the required standard
    •  Delegate duties to kitchen staff as per the menu requirements
    •  Oversee and monitor the work of kitchen staff to ensure all tasks are done as required
    •  Give staff feedback on their performance to enable staff development
    •  Ensure any staffing issues are resolved fairly and quickly
    • Be accountable for compliance regarding all food-related practices and procedures
  • Manage kitchen stock
    •  Ensure wastage is minimised by careful supervision of food preparation methods
    •  Ensure proper hygienic storage methods are utilised to prevent food loss
    • Prepare according to need
    •  Oversee the ordering and control of stock levels to ensure freshness and monitor increasing costs
  • Ensure kitchen staff are working safely at all times
    •  Ensure staff are aware of and follow safe work practices at all times
    •  Assist other staff in the cleaning of the kitchen at the end of the shift
    • Monitor regular scheduled kitchen cleaning
    •  Ensure the kitchen is kept clean and hygienic at all times
  • Assist the Cafe Manager/Owner as required
    •  Assist the day-to-day running the cafe
    •  Carry out other tasks as required by the Cafe Manager/Owner
    •  Pay careful attention to the operating budget of the kitchen to ensure that costs are controlled to maintain the correct levels of spending
