The Administration and Communications Manager is a pivotal role and is responsible for the provision of effective administration and communications support to The Johnston Collection.

The Johnston Collection is a multi-award winning and critically acclaimed museum centred in an historic East Melbourne townhouse.  TJC’s vision is to engage audiences with visual arts and design and it is dedicated to delivering programs that present challenging and enriching experiences for visitors of ages and backgrounds.

The Administration & Communications Manager (ACM) is a pivotal role and is responsible for the provision of effective administration and communications support to the Museum.  The ACM holds a distinct role within the organisation and works closely with the Director | Curator to ensure the smooth and efficient running of a small dynamic office.

Working for a not-for-profit organisation, the role requires exceptional organisational and communications skills, demonstrated high-level interpersonal skills, along with a strong customer focus, strategic thinking, advanced knowledge of digital social media tools, technology and publishing platforms, and fluency in design.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all museum related communications including bookings, incoming telephone calls, emails, general correspondence.
  • Organisation of meetings and events – preparing agendas, minutes, venues and catering.
  • Assist with the production of both onsite and offsite events.
  • Prepare media releases for all project launches, exhibitions, programs and fundraising events.
  • Manage and produce content for digital and non-digital publications including the museum’s website, eNews, Annual Report, Instagram, Facebook amongst others.
  • Act as OHS/Area Warden and undertaking necessary training for this.

 

Required for this role:

  • Exceptional organisational and communication skills.
  • Strong customer focus and strong results focus.
  • Knowledge and use of social media, email and mobile marketing.
  • Strong IT skills including MS Office suite, Adobe Professional,
  • High level ability to use initiative, experience and technical skills to assess and resolve day-to-day matters on an ongoing basis.
