The Fermentary is seeking an experienced sales/business development manager who can create and deliver our wholesale sales strategy.

At The Fermentary we are truly passionate about ferments and pride ourselves on being a leading producer of and educator about raw, wild fermented products. We are a small, tight knit and passionate team that is currently undergoing a rapid period of growth and we are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced sales manager to take on our newly created wholesale sales manager role.

 

You are an experienced sales manager within the speciality wine, cheese or luxury food industry.By leveraging existing and building new relationships, you will be able to identify and maximise new opportunities for growth. In doing so, you will be the driving force for our unique wholesale story – developing and delivering our wholesale sales strategy and customer management.

 

A knowledge of and enthusiasm for wild fermentation is essential, as is a friendly, polite and approachable manner. We aim to provide the highest level of service to build and strengthen our customer relationships. We want someone who can take ownership of the brand and the product, someone who is genuinely passionate about the ethics and approachability of good food.

 
Key Duties:

  • Develop and deliver innovative, commercially viable and sustainable sales strategies that complement The Fermentary’s brand; including wholesale events and masterclasses
  • Identify opportunities within current customer relationships to build sales of existing and new products
  • Identify, explore and present potential opportunities for new customers and segments
  • Develop and deliver on sales and service objectives
  • Develop and implement sophisticated processes to manage customer and sales, including CRM software


To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Strong understanding of the artisan food and food manufacturing landscape
  • Product knowledge and enthusiasm for wild, raw fermentation
  • Experience in developing and delivering sales strategies and achieving sales targets
  • Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Solid network of highly developed contacts within the artisan food industry
  • Consumer led orientation with a drive for results
  • Ability to determine optimal trade-offs between short term profitability verses strategic intent
  • Highly developed commercial acumen including demonstrable experience in increasing and driving sales performance and results
  • Ability to manage budgets and financials
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills
  • A valid Australian driver's licence and flexibility for interstate travel

 

This is a permanent, full-time role, typically Monday to Friday with occasional requirements for weekend work.

 

Salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant, based on previous experience.
