An opportunity exists for qualified, passionate and highly motivated Sous Chef and Chef De Partie to join the team at Taxi Kitchen.
Taxi Kitchen is an iconic Melbourne restaurant located in the heart of Melbourne at Federation Square. Overlooking the Yarra river, Flinders Street Station and Federation Square, Taxi Kitchen's Modern Australian cuisine has a strong Asian influence that focuses heavily on local, seasonal and sustainable produce.

Reporting to the Head Chef your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking food according to customers’ orders
- Ensuring that all dishes created are of high quality and presented well
- Provide input to seasonal changes and / or specials to the menus
- Order food supplies as required
- Undertake and supervise daily food preparation in anticipation and response of service requirement.
- Create recipe / menu cards for the kitchen staff to ensure dishes are created as per standard
- Demonstrating cooking techniques to the kitchen staff and advise other chefs / cooks on cooking procedures
- Creating and maintaining a stock-take system and procedure and ensure all kitchen staff follow stock take procedure
- Monitor costs with special regard to portion control, waste minimisation and stock control
- Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations, safe work practice and having knowledge of allergy restricted food
- Carrying out quality checks on food supplies to ensure quality and freshness
- Liaise with Front of House Manager / team to ensure that a smooth service is always provided to the customers
- Working with the Functions Team to create function packages and able to assist in function events
Requirements:
- Demonstrated knowledge of food safety
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekend's and public holidays
- Function experience
- Committed to Health and Safety
- Trade qualification, Certificate in commercial cookery IV or above (not diploma of hospitality)
- Min 3 years experience in similar role
