We are on the look out for the missing piece of our puzzle; a dynamic individual with charisma, good vibes and a work ethic to match to compliment and work alongside one of Melbourne's most respected Japanese Chefs.

For the first time since opening and due to in-house promotions, Future Future is on the lookout for a charismatic, motivated and highly skilled professional to take on the role of Sous Chef.

As Sous Chef at Future Future your day to day will never be the same! With an ever-evolving menu, community focused events, collaborations and a thriving restaurant to oversee alongside our Head Chef. Our ideal candidate will be a pro-list maker, box ticker and thrive off of keeping the wheels spinning whilst also easily navigating their way across the multiple sections in the kitchen. Working alongside one of Melbourne's most renowned Japanese Chefs, Atsushi Kawakami, you can expect opportunities to learn, grow and develop your skillset, to understand and appreciate the art of Japanese cuisine and to certainly sharpen up on your fish preparation skills!

Role expectations:

  • Work directly with the General Manager and Head Chef to become a part of an expanding business 
  • Assist in the execution of ingredient focused menus, driven by quality, creativity and accessibility
  • Assist the Head Chef to set high standards, lead and motivate your team
  • A focus on mentoring and training Junior staff members to develop their skills and capabilties across mulptiple sections
  • Support the Head Chef in the day to day management of kitchen operations including running service, ordering and stocktake
  • Dedication to minimal waste working practises and taking the lead on the in-house composting system
  • Support the environmental responsibility strategy lead by senior management and nominated team members

Our ideal candidate:

  • An experienced Chef with a minimum of 2-3 years as a Chef de Partie, or Sous Chef 
  • A true professional with great communication skills and management experience
  • Respectful, hardworking and motivated
  • Curious and passionate to learn
  • Very high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Experience with Japanese cuisine is preferred
