With a new Private Dining Room, extensive outdoor area and beautiful public bar, The Lincoln is one of the best pubs in Melbourne and as well-known for our hospitality, as for our seasonal menu, craft beer and fine wine.

Located on the corner of Cardigan and Queensberry Streets in Carlton, only a few minutes from the city, The Lincoln is a labour of love for our team, with an uncompromising commitment to simply delicious food and drinks, a warm welcome and relaxed feel. What are we looking for?

We are searching for the right person to be our Head Chef and to take the helm of our kitchen, whether an experienced leader or a Sous Chef ready to take the next step.

Rather than purely standard pub fare, our menu is seasonal modern Australian, championing Australian produce.

You would have full creative freedom to refresh and evolve our menu, with access to the best suppliers and highest quality produce and ingredients, such as organic vegetables from Days Walk Farm and Somerset Heritage Produce, the freshest seafood direct from fishers through Two Hands, and meat from Flinders Co, such as Roaring Forties Lamb and Wanderer free-range barley-fed beef.

You would be in charge of all facets of the kitchen, including leading six full-time staff made up of a strong brigade of hardworking and long-term professional chefs, who love what they do, as well as, the backing of a very supportive and responsive management team.

We strive for excellence everyday so you must have a sense of pride in your work and demand consistently high standards from yourself and your team.

You would be committed to maintaining oversight of financial reporting, including keeping close control of COGs, labour costs, wastage and spoilage costs.

Do you have…

  • Experience cooking and developing a creative menu of modern Australian cuisine (we do not offer just standard parmas and fish and chips!)
  • Familiarity with seasonal high-quality Australian produce and suppliers
  • A positive and engaging nature
  • Leadership skills with proven ability to nurture and mentor a team
  • Strong work ethic and can-do attitude
  • Ability to work a rotating roster 7-days a week, nights and weekends
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high volume, fast paced environment
  • Commitment to always maintaining high standards
