While ten-pin bowling is a significant part of the experience, we're committed to ensuring that our customers feel the same thrill and excitement whether they're hitting a strike or sitting down to dine. Our food offering is a cornerstone of The Keys experience, featuring two separate kitchens. Our Bistro menu, crafted by Maria Delengas, former head chef at Arke in SA, offers dishes reminiscent of the comfort of a corner hotel, bursting with flavour and served in generous portions. Additionally, our outdoor kiosk, overseen by Sam Stafford, previously at Nomad, MONOXO, presents a weekly menu cooked over fire, designed to tantalize our guests' taste buds.

Job Description: We are currently seeking a talented and passionate Jr Sous Chef to join our culinary team at The Keys. As a Jr Sous, you will play a vital role in maintaining the high standards of our kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional dining experiences to our guests.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with the Head Chefs to execute and oversee the preparation of dishes from our Bistro menu and outdoor kiosk offerings.
  • Lead and inspire kitchen staff, ensuring adherence to recipes, quality standards, and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Contribute to menu development, bringing creative ideas and innovative approaches to enhance our culinary offerings.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Assist in inventory management, ordering supplies, and controlling food costs to optimize profitability.
  • Adapt to the fast-paced nature of our establishment, remaining calm under pressure and delivering excellence during peak service times.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as an experience chef or in a similar leadership role within a high-volume restaurant environment.
  • Solid understanding of culinary techniques, flavour profiles, and food presentation.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor kitchen staff.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • A passion for food and a commitment to delivering memorable dining experiences to our guests.
