This is a hands-on role bridging design, production, and project management. You'll work closely with our designers, makers, and suppliers to coordinate the technical development and manufacture of our products, from prototyping and sampling through to production and delivery.

About Us:

Coco Flip is a small furniture and lighting design studio, established in 2010. We're a small, passionate team creating high-quality, original furniture and lighting pieces that blend timeless craftsmanship with contemporary design. Based in Melbourne, we work closely with local makers and suppliers to bring thoughtful, refined objects to life for residential and commercial clients across Australia and beyond.

As our business continues to grow, we’re looking for a talented and organised Production & Technical Development Coordinator to join us and play a key role in turning ideas into reality—ensuring designs are technically resolved, beautifully made, and delivered on time.

The Role:

This is a permanent part-time role (3–4 days per week) based in our Northcote studio.

We’re a small, creative team looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented team member to take the lead on production and operations. In this role, you'll oversee the production, assembly, and packaging of our lighting and furniture collections, manage inventory, refine technical specifications, and help ensure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

We're after someone who’s passionate about design, thrives on problem-solving, and enjoys working collaboratively to bring beautiful objects to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production schedules and supplier coordination to ensure timely delivery of products

  • Liaise with manufacturers and fabricators to resolve production issues and improve efficiency

  • Provide technical guidance, drawings and support to the design and sales team

  • Maintain accurate records of product specifications, materials, and lead times

  • Continuously improve technical aspects of products and packaging and source new components, materials, and suppliers as needed

  • Support the studio team with project tracking, logistics, and labelling to ensure timely delivery of orders

  • Manage the documentation of product assembly, product maintenance & care guidelines

  • Handle repair and maintenance enquiries with care

About You:

  • Strong understanding of furniture or lighting manufacturing processes

  • Proficient in CAD (e.g., Rhino, AutoCAD) and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills

  • Hands-on experience with product development and production coordination

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, creative environment with multiple priorities

  • Detail-oriented and proactive with a problem-solving mindset

  • A background in industrial design, product design, or a related field is highly desirable

  • Experience working with small-scale manufacturing or artisanal production a plus

  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively

Why Join Us?

  • Work in a tight-knit, creative team where your input matters

  • Be part of a growing brand committed to sustainability and quality craftsmanship

  • Opportunity to shape and streamline processes as we expand

  • A studio culture that values collaboration, design excellence, and work-life balance
