About the Role
DejaVu Cafe Bar Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our busy café and restaurant operation in Mooloolaba. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, menu development, kitchen operations, and maintaining food safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning menus and creating weekly specials
- Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to a high standard
- Monitoring food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Managing stock control and ordering supplies
- Estimating food and labour costs
- Ensuring compliance with food safety and workplace health regulations
- Supervising and training kitchen staff
- Maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment
- Assisting with rostering and kitchen operations
- Managing food wastage and portion control
Qualifications
Applicants must possess one of the following:
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery and Certificate IV in Kitchen Management (or equivalent qualification); or
- Relevant overseas qualification recognised as comparable to the Australian qualification; or
- At least 1 year of relevant full-time work experience where formal qualifications are not held.
Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year of full-time experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen; preferred 3 years for sponsorship candidates.
- Experience in café, restaurant, or hospitality environments.
- Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Experience in menu planning, stock control, and team supervision
