As long time residents of Coburg and dedicated foodies, our passion has always been to open a high quality café in our neighbourhood. For a few years we had been looking at a shop front on Bell Street and dreaming about what an ideal café it would make – a perfect location in the heart of eclectic Coburg!

Now that dream has come to life.

That café is called The Eastern Bloc – and draws on the rich traditions of the central and eastern European countries such as Russia, Poland, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia and Germany. The food is an eclectic mix of dishes inspired by traditional and home–made family recipes but with a modern twist. We aim to be the best in our 'hood serving great food and awesome coffee! Proprietors, Jason & Vanessa both share a passion for great food, culture, building strong relationships and having an unrivalled energy for life.
