Australian Venues Elevated on the World Stage

Recognition well deserved.

Melbourne restaurant Attica has been recognised on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, for the sixth year running.

The renowned Ripponlea restaurant was awarded a 2018 ranking of 20 – its highest placing on the list to date.

The 2018 awards were held in Bilbao, Spain. Coming in at number one, for the first time, was Massimo Bottura’s Italian eatery Osteria Francescana. Last year’s winner, New York’s Eleven Madison Park, dropped to fourth place.

A number of other Australian venues have also be in nominated in the upcoming 2018 Spirited Awards, the centrepiece of the Tales of the Cocktail summit held in New Orleans each year, considered the most prestigious independent bar awards in the world.

Melbourne’s Black Pearl has been nominated in the Best International Bar Team category alongside Sydney’s The Baxter Inn. In 2017, Black Pearl won the Best International Cocktail Bar award, and in 2015 took out Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar.

Melbourne’s Eau De Vie and The Baxter Inn were also nominated for World’s Best Spirits Selection and Best International High Volume Cocktail Bar awards this year.

And Sydney bars have been recognised in other major categories, too. Bulletin Place is nominated for the Best International Cocktail Bar award and Maybe Frank for Best International Restaurant Bar.

Tales of the Cocktail will take place in New Orleans from July 17 to 22, 2018 and Spirited Awards winners be announced on July 21.
