Event: How to Open Your Own Bar

Learn from the best in the industry.

If you spend your weekends jumping between clubs and restaurants with your friends, have a passion for hospitality or an interest in beer, wine and spirits, chances are you’ve thought about opening your own bar. Melbourne has a rich nightlife with plenty on offer, but in a saturated market, where do you start?

This December, Bars in Depth is putting on the first in a series of seminars tailored towards those who want to start their own food and beverage business. Appropriately located on Smith Street, Collingwood, the sessions offer invaluable insight into an industry that can be difficult to navigate for newcomers.

The sessions are hosted by Scout Bar’s Matt Whiley, who has co-founded five award-winning bars across London, and Operation Dagger’s Luke Whearty, who has worked at a host of internationally acclaimed venues. The seminars will cover topics such as concept creation, financial planning, hiring staff and more, with plenty of time for questions and networking.

Perfect for any prospective business owners, those who want to bring their vision to life or anyone who needs some inspiration to kickstart their hospitality journey.

Tickets are $40 and include two drinks.

Bars in Depth is on Monday December 3 at Worksmith, 450 Smith St, Collingwood. 6pm–8.30pm.
