About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, trade-qualified Senior Chef to join our professional culinary team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate hospitality professional with a strong background in fine dining and high-end event catering.

Working as part of a dedicated and high-performing kitchen team, you will help deliver extraordinary dining experiences across some of Melbourne's most prestigious and iconic heritage-listed venues. You will be responsible for preparing and presenting exceptional food while maintaining the highest standards of quality, consistency, food safety and kitchen operations.

This role will involve evening and weekend work, with hours aligned to performance and event schedules.

Position Responsibilities

As a Senior Chef, you will:

  • Prepare, cook and present high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of fine dining services and premium catered events.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of food quality, taste and presentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering, stock rotation and minimising food waste.
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior chefs and kitchen staff.
  • Work collaboratively with the broader kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen environment.
  • Assist with menu development and seasonal menu planning.
  • Participate in ongoing training and comply with all workplace policies and procedures.

Skills and Experience Required

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A recognised trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent).
  • A minimum of five (5) years' industry experience in fine dining and/or high-end events.
  • Relevant experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
  • Demonstrated culinary skills and knowledge appropriate to a Senior Chef position.
  • A current Food Safety Handling Certificate (or equivalent recognised qualification).
  • A sound understanding of food safety standards and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent knowledge of contemporary cooking techniques and premium food presentation.
  • The ability to remain calm, organised and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication, organisational and time management skills.
  • A genuine passion for food and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.
  • A willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays, aligned with event schedules.
