About the Role

Tulasi Pty Ltd (ABN 79 323 949 501), trading as Tulsi Restaurant, is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team in Forest Lake, Queensland.

We are looking for a motivated Chef who takes pride in preparing high-quality food, maintaining excellent kitchen standards and delivering an exceptional dining experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of Indian and South Asian dishes to a consistently high standard.
• Assist with menu planning, recipe development and daily kitchen operations.
• Ensure food is prepared, presented and served in accordance with established quality standards.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes, presentation and consistency.
• Order, receive and appropriately store food, ingredients and kitchen supplies.
• Monitor stock levels and minimise food wastage.
• Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen at all times.
• Follow all relevant food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements.
• Maintain appropriate food storage, temperature control and cleaning records.
• Follow HACCP principles and applicable Queensland food safety requirements.
• Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and consistency.
• Train, guide and support kitchen staff where required.
• Assist with rostering and coordination of kitchen duties when required.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained appropriately.
• Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff.
• Contribute ideas for new dishes, specials and improvements to kitchen operations.
• Maintain a professional, positive and respectful workplace environment.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an equivalent qualification.
• At least 1 years of full-time experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Experience preparing Indian cuisine and/or South Asian cuisine is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
• Understanding of food safety standards and HACCP principles.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• A positive, reliable and flexible attitude.
• Ability to maintain consistently high standards of hygiene, food quality and presentation.
