Firecracker Event + ONLYS

Firecracker Event is a Melbourne-based events and catering business creating food-led experiences for private clients, weddings, corporate events, festivals and special occasions. We work across a range of venues and environments, so no two weeks — or events — are quite the same.

Food is at the heart of what we do. We develop menus that are thoughtful, generous and creative, with a strong focus on seasonality, flavour and presentation. A big part of our work is customisation — we regularly create bespoke menus around our clients, their brief, the venue and the occasion, rather than simply working from a set catering menu.

Our chefs are involved in everything from menu development and prep through to cooking and service on site. We also work across a mix of smaller, intimate events and high-volume catering, so the ability to stay organised, calm and energetic while producing consistently great food is really important.

ONLYS is our small snack and wine bar in Northcote — and the home of Firecracker. It's a more intimate expression of the food we love to cook, currently operating as a Friday night venue.

ONLYS gives our chefs the opportunity to be a little more experimental and immediate. The menu changes regularly and is driven by seasonality, ideas, collaborations and the people we're working with. We also host guest chefs and special food events, which means there's plenty of opportunity to work with different cuisines, chefs and creative ideas.

Together, Firecracker and ONLYS give our team a really varied cooking life — from large-scale events and weddings to intimate dinners, snack-bar service, bespoke client menus, pop-ups and collaborative projects.

We're a relatively small, hands-on team, so we value people who bring energy, enthusiasm, openness and dynamism to the kitchen. We like chefs who are curious, generous with their knowledge, willing to get stuck in and excited by the opportunity to contribute ideas.

We're serious about the food, but we're also serious about creating a workplace where people enjoy working together. There is a strong sense of collaboration across the team, and because we're small, everyone's contribution genuinely matters.
