Let’s look after each other.
While dining out can be glamorous, working behind the scenes in hospitality can be very stressful. The work is often demanding and fast paced, with irregular hours. It’s no wonder anxiety and depression are common across the industry.
Next week, Worksmith and Turnip Media will host a special panelled event on this issue to help promote mental-health awareness in the hospitality industry.
If you’re suffering from mental illness, looking for ways to reduce stress or a manager wanting to know more about workplace health and safety, then we couldn’t recommend this event more highly.
The panel will discuss how to further promote mental-health awareness, reduce emotional workplace stress and generally go about looking after each other.
Panellists include renowned Melbourne writer and industry identity Hilary McNevin, Meatsmith’s Sascha Randle and workplace psychologist Michael O’Neill.
O’Neill has been in private practice for 35 years specialising in trauma management and workplace conflict. He is currently director of CBD Health in East Melbourne and an advisor to the Australian Hotels Association.
