Late-Night Knockoffs: The Best Things to Do After Work in Melbourne | May 5

We don’t all finish at 5pm. Here’s your quick guide for where to unwind after the late shift this weekend.

Friday

There are few better cures than Musashi Ramen after a long shift on a cold night. Grab a booth with your work mates or find a quiet solo spot at one of the best ramen restaurants in the city. It’s open until 3am and does excellent traditional and modern dishes (the Wagyu is served with a flamethrower). If you’re keen for a drink afterwards, Heartbreaker is only a block away. And both are great options if you’re on a budget.

Saturday

Butcher’s Diner – in this writer’s opinion – dishes up the best burgers in the city. It’s open until 3am, the menu is simple, the staff are always friendly and there’s plenty of seating for groups or solo diners (grab the table with the lamp by the entrance if you’re in the latter category and want to people-watch). There are plenty of local and international tinnies on offer, and if you’re feeling kick-ons with your workmates, Angel Music Bar is serving up good times and even better tunes next door until 5am.

Sunday

You typically finish earlier on Sundays compared to the rest of the weekend, but there are still plenty of late-night options around. Bodega Underground is an excellent choice for no-fuss Mexican food and a beer until 1am. Groups are welcome, and there are always seats at the bar if you’re riding solo but feel like a chat with the staff. Bar Ampere is one of the best spots for a nightcap in the city, and only a short walk away. If you’re especially keen to keep the night going, there’s always Revolver.
