Secrets to Start-up Success

Frank Body’s Bree Johnson reveals her three golden rules.

Bree Johnson knows all about creating successful start-ups. In her short career, she has already created two of them. In 2011 the Melbourne entrepreneur launched communications business Willow & Blake with a couple of friends. Since then it has become a thriving boutique agency that boasts Grill'd, Lee Jeans and Jeep as notable clients. Then In 2013 she cofounded Frank Body - now an internationally renowned coffee-based skincare product range with 690,000 Instagram followers.

So what are the secrets to her success? Ahead of her appearance at this Thursday's General Assembly event How To Build A Business That People Love, Johnson gives us a quick teaser:

• Move quickly. If you keep waiting for everything to be perfect you’ll probably never get there. Being too scared to act destroys businesses.

• Be patient and persistent. Don’t give up and don’t expect to be an overnight success. Learn resilience and learn from your mistakes .

• Let go of your ego. Think about your customers’ needs and don't be clouded by your own opinion. At the end of the day it's about them not you.

Johnson will be joined on Thursday by artist Natalie Stuart and head of culture at Vinomofo, Mikey Ellis.

Learn more and register here.

How to Build a Business People Love is on Thursday February 23 at Allpress Studio, 84 Rupert Street, Collingwood. 6.30pm - 8.30pm.
