- 5 days a week, average 40 hours a week, including an average of 3 Saturdays a month. *Note we trade Sundays only in December so must be available for at least 2 of these.

ASSISTANT RETAIL MANAGER JOB ROLE

The Assistant Retail Manager involves managing the day-to day functions of retail operations and effectively lead the retail team to fulfil their duties. Areas of responsibilities include planning, managing and maintaining the retail store; protecting the store and merchandise; providing customer service; and coordinating the movement of goods and people within the store.

The Assistant Retail Manager drives the realisation of the business strategies by developing business opportunities, fostering relationships with clients/artists, and establishing operations and service excellence standards. 

They are also responsible for driving the organisation’s innovation and productivity aspirations. They operate in a rapidly transforming business environment and function through their understanding of consumers’ preferences, operational activities and industry landscape to enhance sales performance, operations and service level. 

They are a resourceful, forward-thinking leader who is able to multitask effectively. They are able to inspire their retail team and lead with confidence in collaboration with the Retail Manager. They promote a positive working culture and drive the achievement of sales results. They are energetic, adaptable, highly-driven and sales-oriented. They also possess strong people management skills and are able to engage with management and key stakeholders.


RETAIL OPERATIONS

Retail Operations involves managing the day-to-day functions of the retail business. Areas of responsibilities include planning, managing and maintaining the retail store; protecting the store and merchandise; providing excellent customer service; visual merchandising;  and coordinating the movement of goods and people within the store.

This includes opening and closing the store, managing client appointments and daily interactions with visiting customers, managing inquiries over the phone and social media, confidently converting engaged customers to purchase.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Supporting Retail Manager: Co-Leadership and Team Management:

   - Directly support the Retail Manager, working closely with both the retail manager and Director.

   - Lead and inspire the retail team to achieve their goals and fulfil their duties effectively.

   - Take the lead in managing day-to-day functions, fostering a positive working environment, and promoting teamwork.

   - Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members, ensuring everyone is aligned with the business objectives.

   - Conduct training sessions for junior staff, sharing your knowledge of the industry, customer service, and sales excellence to empower them for success.

 

  • Retail Operations:

   - Plan, manage, and maintain the retail store, ensuring a visually appealing and organised environment.

   - Oversee inventory management, including the movement of goods and merchandise, to optimise sales opportunities.

   - Implement procedures to protect store assets and maintain security measures.

 

  • Customer Service Excellence:

   - Uphold a standard of excellence in customer service, thriving on meaningful engagement with customers.

   - Utilise your in-depth knowledge of jewellery, gems, industry processes, history, and manufacturing to provide expert guidance and advice to customers.

   - Quickly establish trust and confidence in our customers, nurturing long-lasting relationships through personalised service.

   - Ensure follow-up after service, creating longevity in our relationships and fostering repeat business.

 

  • Sales Leadership:

   - Demonstrate exceptional sales ability, driving sales performance and meeting targets consistently.

   - Utilise your passion for jewellery and creativity to inspire customers and increase sales opportunities.

   - Collaborate with the Retail Manager to develop and implement sales strategies that align with business objectives.

 

  • Collaboration and Communication:

   - Foster strong relationships with the Retail Manager, Head Office, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.

   - Act as a liaison between the retail team and management, conveying feedback, suggestions, and concerns to drive continuous improvement.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to take initiative and lead in the absence of the Retail Manager.

- In-depth knowledge of jewellery, including gems, industry processes, history, and manufacturing.

- Minimum 5 years in jewellery sales.

- Excellent sales ability with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding targets.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with customers, team members, and management.

- Passionate about customer service excellence, thriving on meaningful engagement with customers and nurturing long-lasting relationships.

- Highly organised with the ability to multitask and prioritise in a fast-paced environment.

- Energetic, adaptable, and sales-oriented mindset, with a passion for driving business success.

- Experience in training junior staff and sharing knowledge of the industry, customer service, and sales excellence.
