The Common Bean Cafe Assistant Chef will join our Social Enterprise cafe team, primarily at the Kangan Institute site. You will assist with the running of a busy cafe and fulfilling catering orders.

The Common Bean Café Assistant Chef will work collaboratively with the café team, primarily at the Kangan Institute site. You will assist with the running of a busy cafe and fulfilling catering orders. The Assistant Chef will be there to provide support to both Supervisors and trainees. The Assistant chef will perform the following duties according to the Common Bean Cafe ‘Standards of Service’.
Key duties:
- Assist in the day-to-day preparation of the food menu
- Assist in stock control, ordering and maintaining supplier relationships
- Assist in the coordination of operations between the Common Bean outlets at Kangan Institute and DPV Health
- Work as part of a diverse team
- Assist in barista duties
- Assist in the preparation and execution of external catering duties
- Assist in growing and refreshing menu to suit demand and seasonal changes
- Serving customers and handling money
- Control food COGs/utlising Food Bank
- Refresh menu as required
- Maintain waste management
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment
- Work with kitchen garden and Food Bank produce
