The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of wine, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to foster relationships with clients and industry professionals. We value emotional intelligence and being kind to your colleagues as much as wine knowledge and sales ability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Stock Control: Ensure shelves are fully stocked daily, maintaining a broad and organised wine display.
- Wine Selection: Collaborate with the head sommelier in tasting new wines as they are released.
- Event Management: To work with our venue manager to create and host events with winemakers and distributors to enhance customer engagement and product knowledge.
- Customer Assistance: Assist guests in selecting wines from our curated wall to complement their experience at Rokeby St.
- Tasting Table Operations: Assist in managing the tasting table, offering guests the opportunity to explore 6-8 wines through bookings or walk-ins, guiding them to build their home collections.
- Staff Training: Assist in conducting training sessions on wines by the glass and on-shelf selections to ensure the team is well-informed and confident in their recommendations.
- Cocktail Service: Provide input into the cocktail menu, ensuring it aligns with the quality and creativity of the wine offerings.
- Client Relationships: Build a network of loyal clients and proactively market wines tailored to their tastes and preferences.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of wines, regions, and pairings.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Experience in event planning and wine tastings is highly desirable.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to foster long-term client relationships.
- High emotional intelligence and a team mentality
