The Welcome to Group is excited to hire two Public Bar Managers for Welcome to Thornbury and Welcome to Brunswick to join the team at our iconic Northcote and Brunswick hospitality precincts.

Between the two venues we house food trucks, bars, beer gardens, a brewery, a distillery, an arcade and multiple functions spaces. Each venue can comfortably hold 1000+ people and after more than 10 years in the game, we’re also the favourite local to many. We host dozens of food trucks a year, throw excellent parties, provide a space for clothing markets, wine tastings, trivia’s, festivals, weddings and much more! In short, we do a lot and we love doing it. We offer a diverse range attracting a diverse clientele and are looking for someone who matches our vibe and welcomes all with open arms.

As PBM you will be part of all areas of the venue, primarily assisting the General Manager by overseeing day to day operations of the public area as well as working closely with our functions team to ensure smooth delivery of service and guest experience.  Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Take the lead with daily public bar venue operations ensuring efficiency and high service standards
  • Oversee training of new hires and continued staff development
  • Oversee Public Bar FOH roster ensuring effective wage control
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements such as liquor licensing, noise management, OH&S and basic R+M
  • Assist GM with venue operational procedures
  • Assist GM with answering emails sent to our general enquiries inbox
  • Deliver exceptional guest experiences by addressing feedback and resolving issues promptly, if you can spot the problem before it is one – even better
  • Optimise bar performance and cost control through inventory management and offerings
  • Support the GM in planning and executing marketing, events, activations and promotions
  • Act as point of contact for any staff, guest or operational concerns, reporting all concerns to the GM and escalating when required
  • Foster an inclusive, enjoyable and collaborative team culture across the venue

You will have:

  • Proven experience in hospitality management at a Duty Manager level or above for at least 3 years
  • A passion for Hospitality across the board
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to problem solve and stay calm in an environment with many moving parts
  • Proactive mindset to continuously improve yourself, the staff and venue to be the best it can be
  • A sense of fun and enjoyment to your work
  • An eye for the 1% stuff
  • A strong sense of community – we’re big (we can’t deny it) but we’re owned and run by locals who care a lot about giving back to community we operate in
  • Current RSA
  • A current First Aid certificate is not required but favourable
