Lead our new Hawthorn cafe, delivering exceptional hospitality while creating meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability. Join a growing social enterprise where great hospitality changes lives.

  • Hospitality with purpose – combine commercial excellence with meaningful social impact.
  • Change lives through employment by supporting people with disability to build skills, confidence and careers.

All Things Equal is a hospitality based social enterprise providing award-wage employment, training and pathways toward meaningful careers for people with disability. Through our cafés, venues, catering and programs, we operate high quality hospitality businesses while creating inclusive, supportive and ambitious workplaces.

Our work is grounded in excellence, dignity and the belief that when people are properly supported, they thrive.

We currently operate a flourishing café in Balaclava, a pop-up site in West Melbourne, a local football club canteen, and deliver catering and events throughout the year, which has included outlets at Australian Open and Australian Grand Prix.

We are in a period of growth, and are thrilled to be opening a café in Hawthorn in the coming months.

THE ROLE

As Café Manager, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of our café, ensuring hospitality excellence is at the heart of everything we do. You'll inspire a team that delivers consistently exceptional food, coffee and customer service, while creating a warm, welcoming environment where every guest feels valued. Working alongside employees and trainees, you'll foster a positive, inclusive and purpose-driven culture where people can grow in confidence and capability. You'll play an important role in supporting trainees participating in our Employment Pathway Program, helping to create meaningful learning opportunities while maintaining the high standards of service and hospitality our customers expect.

You'll be responsible for all aspects of café operations, including leading and developing your team, workforce planning and rostering, ordering and inventory management, stock control, cash handling and end-of-day reconciliation, maintaining food safety and workplace health and safety standards, and ensuring the café operates efficiently and profitably. You'll drive high standards of presentation, quality and service, proactively solve problems, and work closely with the broader leadership team to continuously improve our operations and customer experience.

OUR DREAM CANDIDATE

You're an experienced hospitality professional with proven café management experience and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. Hospitality excellence is second nature to you, and you know how to create a café where outstanding coffee, food, service and atmosphere come together every day.

You're a hands-on leader who leads by example, building high-performing teams through warmth, professionalism and accountability. You enjoy motivating and developing others, creating a positive team culture, and ensuring your café runs smoothly and efficiently.

You're also inspired by the opportunity to make a difference. You enjoy working alongside people from diverse backgrounds and abilities, supporting trainees participating in our Employment Pathway Program while balancing the commercial needs of a busy café.

To be successful in this role, you'll also have:

  • Proven experience managing a busy café or hospitality venue.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience with rostering, ordering, stock control and day-to-day café operations.
  • An NDIS Worker Screening Check and a current First Aid Certificate (or a willingness to obtain these).

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING

  • A full-time, permanent leadership role (5 days per week, including a minimum of one weekend day).
  • The exciting opportunity to lead and shape the operations of a café as All Things Equal expands into a new Hawthorn location.
  • A values-driven organisation where hospitality excellence and social impact go hand in hand.
  • A warm, supportive team that champions belonging, excellence, growth, collaboration and meaningful impact.
  • The opportunity to build careers, create opportunities, and make a genuine difference in the lives of trainees and the wider community.
