Cook/Chef

JOY is seeking a part time chef/cook to join us at our Coburg location.

JOY is a new cafe in Coburg, nestled in the shopping village on Gaffney St. Since opening in November 2023 we have received immense local support and are now needing to expand our team to meet our growing customer need. We strive to deliver excellent service and customer experience, and we offer products that are of the highest quality. Our food menu is grounded in the dishes that are nourishing and simple, yet unusual and surprising. We are seeking a part time cook or chef who is motivated by creating beautiful food.

The ideal candidate will be able to work the pass confidently, assist with prep work, order and maintain stock, clean and restock, and innovate new menu items. We are currently open Tuesdays - Saturdays but we will soon transition to also be open on Mondays. Shifts run from between 6am - 3pm, however start and finish times may vary.

Initially we need 2-3 shifts per week, with the possibility of more hours or full time, if the fit is right. Our chef/cook is responsible for:

*Working the pass and maintaining the line

*Preparing sandwiches, toasts, smoothies and other food

*Receive deliveries *Preparing fresh produce, dressings and sauces as required

*Follow food and safety protocols and company specifications

*Clean and clear dishes and equipment, and maintain a clean kitchen

*Placing daily bread, fruit and vegetable orders and restock as required

*Develop new menu items

The candidate must meet below requirements to be considered:

*Have a minimum of 1 year experienced in a similar role

*The right to work in Australia *Great work ethic and attitude

*Strong interpersonal skills

*Work efficiently under pressure and to remain calm

*Work well in a team and autonomously

*Great attention to detail and reliable
