Located in Brunswick in an historic building and pub, which has been serving the locals for more than 20 years. The venue provides classic pub meals, fully stocked bar, regular live entertainment and classic pub decor.

The Role:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and presentation, ensuring high-quality dishes and a clean, efficient kitchen environment.

The role will be at our Brunswick, Melbourne store.

Key Responsibilities:

· Prepare and cook menu items following recipes and dietary requirements.

· Wash, peel, and cut ingredients for daily use.

· Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations and equipment.

· Monitor stock levels, report shortages, and ensure proper storage of ingredients.

· Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely and efficient service.

· Adhere to food safety and hygiene regulations.

· Assist in training new kitchen staff and keep up with industry trends.

· Ensuring portion control and food aesthetics.

· Adjusting cooking processes as needed based on customer orders and dietary requirements.

· Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

· Monitoring stock levels and notifying the head chef or kitchen manager of shortages.

· Properly storing ingredients and prepared food to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.

· Checking the functionality of kitchen appliances and reporting any issues.

· Occasionally interacting with customers to address special requests or dietary needs.

· Receiving and responding to customer feedback regarding food quality.

· Following food safety and hygiene standards to prevent foodborne illnesses.

· Ensuring that all dishes meet the establishment’s standards before they are served.

· Keeping records of food temperatures, preparation times, and storage conditions.

 

Skills & Experience:

 

· Knowledge of various cooking methods and procedures.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

· Strong communication and teamwork skills.

· Attention to detail and commitment to food quality.

· At least one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience as a Cook

· AQF Certificate III including at least two years on -the- training. or AQF Certificate IV
