Front Runners Hospitality Pty Ltd is on the hunt for a talented, motivated and experienced Chef de Partie to join our dynamic and experienced kitchen team. Join us and become a part of our hospitality group!
We are simultaneously a laboratory, a creative kitchen, a workshop, and a hub for connoisseurs of the dark art and science of coffee. This pairs and matches perfectly with our seasonally changing menus that celebrate imaginative modern Australian brunch cuisine. We're looking for an experienced Chef de Partie to join the team in our busy CBD cafe.
General responsibilities:
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of menu items
- Understanding of how to use and properly maintain all kitchen equipment.
- Demonstrate and maintain high standards of food preparation, cooking and presentation
- Maintain knowledge of and be able to confidently demonstrate a variety of preferred cooking techniques
- Awareness and understanding of the Australian Food Act 1984 and Victorian Food Safety program
- Provide support to other kitchen employees as required
- Perform duties to the best of ability and knowledge
- Comply with relevant organisational policies and procedures to ensure a safe, efficient and hygienic workplace
- Any other duties assigned by Management within reasonable expectation of job role
Daily responsibilities
- Prepare and cook menu items as per recipe or direction from the Head Chef
- Ensure section is set up and organised ready for service, maintain an accurate prep list
- Be able to maintain workflow within own section and be ready to offer help when needed or ask for assistance when necessary
- Inspect and check prepared food items to ensure quality standards are maintained
- Assist with cleaning of kitchen as required
- Maintain a cheerful demeanour and assist in supporting a productive, happy and safe workplace
- Write up or inform Head Chef of items needing to be ordered as necessary
- Train junior kitchen team members
Weekly responsibilities
- Weekly cleaning duties as per cleaning schedule
Additional responsibilities
- Attend staff meetings as required
Experience/qualifications required: (if applicable)
- Minimum 2 years experience cooking in commercial kitchen
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) preferable

- Setting high standards of performance for self, assuming responsibility and accountability for successfully completing tasks and self-imposing standards of excellence rather than having standards imposed
- Making customers’ needs a primary focus of one's actions while developing and sustaining productive customer relationship
- Effective management of time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently
Physical requirements:
- Constant standing with some walking
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
- Ability to speak, hear and see
- Continual use of manual dexterity and gross motor skills with frequent use of fine motor skills
- Able to reach and bend, frequently lift up to 15 kg and occasionally lift/move up to 25 kg
- Able to taste all the types of food prepared in the kitchen (exclusive of allergens/intolerances)
In return, we offer you a competitive salary ($76,550), a full-time contract and importantly - free coffee.
