Cooper Technologies Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineering Technician to join our team.

About the Role
The Electrical Engineering Technician will provide technical support to Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists and assist with the testing, installation, maintenance and modification of electrical systems and equipment.
The successful applicant will work closely with our engineering and production teams to ensure electrical equipment, components and installations comply with technical specifications, quality standards and applicable safety requirements.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The position will include:
- Conducting tests on electrical systems, equipment and components and recording and analysing test results.
- Assisting Electrical Engineers and Engineering Technologists with the design and layout of electrical installations, circuitry and associated systems.
- Preparing and interpreting electrical drawings, plans, diagrams and technical documentation.
- Collecting technical data, performing calculations and preparing charts, reports and tabulations of results.
- Assisting with estimating materials, quantities and costs for electrical engineering work.
- Inspecting electrical designs, equipment and finished products to ensure compliance with specifications, quality standards and relevant regulations.
- Assembling, installing, testing, calibrating, modifying, troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment and installations.
- Supporting electrical workshop activities and the installation and testing of electrical assemblies, metering, indicating and control devices.
- Identifying electrical faults and assisting with the implementation of appropriate technical solutions.
- Maintaining accurate technical, testing, maintenance and service records.
- Assisting with engineering research, product development, testing and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensuring work is undertaken in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant electrical standards and procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants must have:
- An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or a closely related discipline, or a qualification considered equivalent to the relevant AQF level; or
- At least three years of relevant experience where accepted as a substitute for the formal qualification in accordance with the applicable ANZSCO skill-level requirements.
- A minimum of 12 months of relevant work experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician or in a closely related field.
- Demonstrated practical knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, testing and fault finding.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
- Experience using appropriate electrical testing and measuring equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
- A strong commitment to workplace health and safety, quality and compliance.
Relevant Australian registration or licensing must be held where required for the duties performed.
Salary and Employment Conditions
This is a full-time permanent position, working 38 hours per week.
Salary: $79,500 per annum plus superannuation.
The remuneration offered will be no less than the applicable Annual Market Salary Rate and relevant Australian skilled migration income threshold requirements.
