About Us
The Carpenter’s Ruin is a local venue focused on great food, quality seasonal ingredients, and a strong kitchen team. We are looking for a practical, dedicated Sous Chef to step into our kitchen and help oversee daily operations.
The Role
As Sous Chef, you will work closely alongside the Head Chef to run daily kitchen operations, lead and mentor the brigade, and maintain quality across every service.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily kitchen prep, service, and line management.
Maintain high standards of food presentation, quality, and hygiene.
Assist with menu development, food costing, and stock management.
Mentor, train, and support junior kitchen staff.
Step up to lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
What We Are Looking For
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior Chef de Partie in a fast-paced kitchen.
Strong leadership skills with a collaborative, team-first attitude.
Solid understanding of food safety, stock control, and kitchen administration.
Passion for high-quality seasonal produce and culinary creativity.
Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent industry experience).
