Bistra is an Australian bistro serving quality food and wine; our fare draws its influence predominantly from British, French and Italian cooking and technique, and yet it is quintessentially Australian. In our intimate, two-storey space, you can expect generous, memorable plates championing seasonal ingredients and an extensive list of wines which we know you’ll want to drink.
About the opportunity: Bistra is searching for a full-time section waiter, an individual who is passionate about quality food and wine, and professional with regards to both their manner and execution. Reporting to the restaurant manager, this role requires concise communication skills, time management proficiency and consistent initiative. Bistra’s section waiters will be supported, nurtured and suitably challenged during their time at Bistra, with opportunities to learn, grow and develop. Rosters will offer a mix of both lunch and dinner services. Full-time positions are offered at 38 hours/week.
As a section waiter at Bistra, you will be responsible for:
Assisting with the setup of the restaurant, including the completion of a set up checklist.
Waiting a section to a high standard of service.
Meeting required steps of service.
Meeting expectations regarding menu knowledge, including ingredients, techniques and sourcing.
Meeting expectations regarding beverage product knowledge, beers, house spirits, cocktails and wines by the glass.
Meeting table turning requirements within a service.
Assisting with packing down the restaurant and cleaning, including the completion of a pack-down checklist.
An ideal candidate will have:
Three years full-time experience in an equivalent position.
The knowledge and ability to run a busy section.
A love of quality food and wine.
A high level of attention to detail.
Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and systems.
Strong communication and time management skills.
Personal traits of kindness and empathy.
Ambition to grow within the role.
A valid RSA Certificate.
