Hagen's are excited to be opening a new concept store in East Brunswick Village and are looking for a Junior Chef to join their team and help create an amazing new experience for our customers.

Job Summary

We are very excited to add a new concept store to our Hagen’s network which will offer both our quality range of meat products as well as introduce a new chef-selection of ready meals, hot-food takeaway options and an on-site rotisserie to customers.


To help create an impressive chef-selection of menu items, showcasing our incredible produce, we’re searching for an enthusiastic and motivated Junior Chef to join our team and help bring this new concept to life!

This is the perfect role for an entry level qualified chef who is looking to sharpen the basics in a low pressure environment, with the perk of being able to hone in on their butchery skills  and section management with support from a very passionate team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the wider kitchen and butchery team & with the support of our culinary consultant to assist in executing a rotating menu of chef-selected ready meals and hot food options using the finest organic ingredients available.
  • Work closely with our butcher team to assist in producing exceptional menu items that utilise a “head to tail” approach.
  • High-volume food production - support the senior kitchen staff with production schedules to ensure efficiencies are met
  • Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, strictly adhering to food safety and sanitation standards and astute attention paid to the maintenance schedule for key kitchen equipment.
  • Strictly adhere to training schedules laid out by senior management - ensuring you are prepared to complete all basic tasks in the kitchen.
  • Collaborate with our retail team to provide product knowledge and support for customer inquiries.
  • Assist with front of house duties as required from time to time.

What we’re looking for

  • 1 year + experience working as a qualified Commis Chef or higher in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • A passion for cooking and a commitment to using high-quality, ethically sourced ingredients. Bonus points for having the hunger to produce the best possible rotisserie chicken experience.
  • Commercially minded – minimise wastage and maximise output.
  • Willingness to be involved in menu development, no idea is a bad idea!
  • Ability to work diligently, autonomously and as part of a team, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to meticulously adhere to established standard operating procedures.
  • Willingness to problem solve, take initiative and make sound decisions.
  • In depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
