Prepare and cook a range of Japanese dishes, potentially including sushi, sashimi, tempura, ramen and other hot/cold menu items, according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Chef or Cook with a strong background in Japanese culinary arts. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing a variety of Japanese dishes, maintaining kitchen standards, and contributing to a positive team environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

* Prepare and cook a range of Japanese dishes, potentially including sushi, sashimi, tempura, ramen and other hot/cold menu items, according to standard recipes and presentation guidelines.

 

* Ensure the quality and consistency of all food prepared.

* Manage food preparation, cooking processes, and portion control efficiently.

* Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic work station and kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP).

* Assist with inventory management, including stock rotation, ordering supplies, and minimizing wastage.

* Collaborate with the kitchen team and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service operations.

* Adhere to workplace health and safety procedures.

* May contribute ideas for menu development or specials based on seasonal availability and customer feedback.

* Handle kitchen equipment safely and responsibly.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

* Proven experience working as a Chef or Cook, preferably with significant experience in Japanese cuisine (sushi, sashimi, hot dishes).

* Knowledge of traditional Japanese cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavour profiles.

* Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are highly regarded.

* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.

* Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

* Good communication and teamwork skills.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

* Must have the right to work in Australia.
