Freelance Photo chef/Food Prep Assistant

An exciting opportunity has opened up for Freelance Food Styling Assistants to join the fast paced team and assist Food Stylist Kirsty Bryson. In joining this team you will get the chance to assist Kirsty Bryson on all manner of high end commercial, professional food photography & styling shoots, tv & video.

Kirsty Bryson is on the hunt for chefs, foodies, or individuals with excellent cooking skills, a good eye for detail & impeccable time management skills.

More about the role: Everything from pre-production, planning, post-production & grocery shopping. Microwaving tampons (for steam) and balling fake ice-cream, the role is multi-faceted and very versatile with no 2 jobs the same. Most jobs you will commute to different locations around Melbourne and Victoria, on occasion there is the opportunity for travel interstate & with the opportunity for International travel on the cards.

Whilst most of the work happens during normal business hours, from time to time it can require occasional evenings & weekends. Ultimately looking for someone that isn't afraid of rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty, enjoys the occasional red eye shift, a ninja with bubble wrap & loves playing car boot Tetris. This position is unique. You would be supporting the food stylist & representing her & her business. This is a highly professional industry that requires a professional attitude at all times.

Being a photo chef/food styling assistant is a unique skill set. We cook to make food look good for the camera. Please note this is a cooking role & you are employed as an assistant to assist the stylist. This is not a styling position. You will be expected to do pre-production, grocery shop, prepare food, wash dishes, cleaning, pack, lug & shelep tubs of props & equipment, photography backgrounds & post-production.

This role is not for everyone. Looking for people who are not afraid of hard work, are honest, reliable & loyal. And looking for longeviety in a role. 

If you love cooking food and are looking for a challenging & versatile position this is the job for you! Must be able to take direction from the stylist. Cooking for photo shoots requires a whole other level of skills.
