You: Full time or part time (4 days). Weekend & evening availability is a must. Attention to detail, sincere wine & cocktail knowledge and/or appreciation, truly enjoys being hospitable.
Glou: 16 ever changing wines and a concise but elaborate cocktail list, small plates, good times, independent owner-operator business.
The role requires experience, ease and genuine interest in wine & cocktails. As we work directly with producers and represent their product, feeling comfortable speaking about wines is paramount. It also does mean that you get to go to the vineyards if desired, taste lots of different wines and learn more about the making, thanks to the amazing producers we work with.
We are looking for someone who actually likes being nice to people and enjoys making someone's day. Attentiveness, a keen eye for detail, being calm when things get hectic and an outgoing personality are key to success.
Due to the nature of this role, weekend and evening availibility are unfortunately non-negotiables. We are looking for someone either part time or full time, depending on what your preferences and lifestyle requirements are. If you have previous management experience, we would love to discuss further options, but it certainly isn't required to apply for this role.
Paid training such as WSET is provided and encouraged - the more knowledge you have, the more confidence do you gain, the better you are at your job - we are here to support your goals.
Fluency in English and unrestricted working rights in Australia are required to be considered.
We are a small bar and wine shop on Smith Street (Collingwood side) serving high quality Australian wines on tap, as well as cocktails, small bar snacks, beers and all the rest of the usual shebang. Our service style is somewhere between bar and table service, but we do not run sections. We care deeply about decreasing the amount of waste we produce on all levels of the business. We also care deeply about honouring the hard work that goes into making products such as wine.
We offer salaries above the hospitality awards, paid breaks and a sincere commitment to life-work-balance. With a team of currently only four, we are a pretty tight-knit, but lovely bunch.
If the above sounds like you may be a good fit, we would love to hear from you via email (love@glou.com.au)
When emailing us, please attach your resume and answer the following 4 questions:
1. What's your favourite bar and why?
2. What's your favourite restaurant and why?
3. What do you like to cook at home?
4. What's your current favourite wine/cocktail/beer/spirit and why?
If you suffer from a shellfish allergy, we sadly are unable to offer employment, as oyster plating is required for the role.
