Sous Chef

The MiTCH is looking for a full-time Sous Chef to join our kitchen team in Alexandria.

We are building a venue that combines the energy of a great local pub with a food offering people genuinely want to come back for. The MiTCH is a community-focused venue with a strong neighbourhood feel, high standards, and a commitment to quality, consistency and hospitality.

This is an ongoing full-time role suited to a chef who is hands-on, organised, calm under pressure and passionate about running a strong service while helping lead a kitchen team day to day.

• support the day-to-day running of the kitchen
• prepare and cook menu items to a high and consistent standard
• assist in leading service and coordinating kitchen sections
• support menu development, specials and seasonal changes
• supervise and train junior kitchen staff
• assist with ordering, stock control, rotation and waste minimisation
• maintain food safety, hygiene and WHS standards
• help drive consistency, organisation and quality across prep and service

• relevant commercial cookery qualification, or equivalent skills and experience
• at least 2 years of relevant experience in a chef-level role
• experience working in a fast-paced pub, restaurant or hospitality kitchen
• strong knowledge of kitchen operations, prep systems and service standards
• ability to lead by example and support a team during busy service periods
• sound understanding of food safety and hygiene requirements
• availability to work a rotating roster including nights, weekends and public holidays
