GALLERY ASSISTANT
Outré Gallery has been a cornerstone of Melbourne's art scene for over three decades, showcasing solo and group exhibitions by both international and Australian artists. We focus on New Contemporary art, offering original artworks, limited edition prints, and beautifully designed publications under Outré Press, collaborating closely with our artists to create unique art books and prints.
We are passionate advocates for both emerging and established artists, fostering the growth of Melbourne's art community. Our mission is to make art accessible to people from all walks of life, breaking down barriers between artists and art lovers, and providing a vibrant platform for creativity.
We are excited to offer a rare opportunity to join our close-knit team in the role of Gallery Assistant, working across our two Melbourne locations. We seek someone who understands our gallery's vision, has a strong appreciation for our artists, and is eager to contribute their skills and enthusiasm to a dynamic and supportive team.
ABOUT THE ROLEWe are looking for a highly organized and passionate Gallery Assistant to support our daily operations and contribute to larger gallery projects. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in contemporary art, a proactive attitude, and strong communication skills. Experience in retail, customer service, administration, or arts-related roles is highly regarded. You will play a key role in assisting customers, managing inventory, handling e-commerce operations, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the gallery.
This role requires adaptability and multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Each day presents different challenges, from assisting in exhibitions to liaising with artists and customers. You will be part of a team dedicated to delivering exceptional service and maintaining a welcoming gallery space.
This is a casual position. After a three-month trial period, you may be offered a roster of 2-3 days per week, with the potential to transition to part-time employment. Pay will be discussed based on skills and experience.
