Ready to launch your career in specialty coffee roasting? Criteria Coffee is adding to our roastery team. In this vibrant, hands on role, you'll support a busy production schedule plus contribute to the daily functions of our communal roastery, learning the ropes from a team of professionals.
Full-time (Monday-Friday) | Port Melbourne
$55-$60k + Superannuation
Since 2018 Criteria Coffee has supplied high-quality coffee to cafés and hospitality businesses, with a focus on consistency, transparency, and knowledge sharing.
Founded by Craig Simon, a multi-award-winning coffee professional, Criteria was built to be more than just a coffee supplier. Alongside Criteria’s own roasting and production sits our busy co-roasting and education facility, supporting a vibrant community of coffee brands and individuals.
Our roastery runs on clear processes and shared responsibility. A small collaborative team everyone gets involved in the day-to-day work — roasting, packing, cleaning, and maintaining a safe, organised space. We value reliability, focus, and people who understand that good systems and steady effort matter.
In this newly created role, we’re looking for a Production/Roastery Assistant to join our team. This is a junior, hands-on role designed for someone early in their coffee or production career, or someone keen to transition into specialty coffee roasting. Prior roastery experience isn’t essential but is advantageous. Full training will be provided, you just need to bring your curiosity, reliability, and a willingness to learn and support the roastery operations.
This role is central to the day-to-day running of the site with well-structured production and cleaning routines, with a great opportunity to learn from proven industry professionals.
Working closely with the production team, you’ll assist in the entire coffee production process — from green coffee preparation through to roasted coffee packing and dispatch. Your days will be active, practical, and varied, with a strong focus on consistency, cleanliness, and teamwork. During our rostered co-roasting days, you’ll help with the smooth running of the facility reporting into the Roastery Manager.
Please send through your CV and a short cover note telling us why this role appeals to you and what you’re hoping to learn.
