We're looking for a talented and passionate Roaster to join our team! We are currently hunting for the next Roasting 2iC for our Melbourne location.

Now, we’re looking for a passionate Roasting Second-in-Charge (2IC) to start in early January 2025. If you’re a coffee professional who loves to nerd out on quality, thrives on innovation, and wants to support a company that champions our relationships, this is your chance!

In this role, you’ll:

  • Work with some of the rarest, most exciting coffees on the planet.
  • Support our Global Head of Roasting in delivering exceptional quality.
  • Celebrate the stories, people, and processes behind the cup.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Product Development

  • Refine and develop roast profiles
  • Correspond with Green Buyer to align on origin stories and buying approach

Management

  • Manage and complete scheduled maintenance
  • Work effectively with our Sales Team to close the customer feedback loop
  • Oversee a small, highly functioning, team in the absence of the Head Roaster

Production

  • Daily setup and fulfilment of production schedules
  • Inventory management, ordering and internal coordination

Quality Control

  • Setup, pack down and logging of daily QC cuppings and analysis
  • Preventive solutions to any conflicts relating to coffees


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Well-developed computer literacy skills, including Microsoft 365, Deputy, and Cropster
  • Communication and interpersonal skills with an engaging, understanding, and motivating style
  • Competent conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent understanding of cuppings, roast profiling, and basic coffee standards
  • Lead by example in building healthy culture & a positive work environment
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of working in a factory
  • 2 years roasting experience preferred
  • Previous management experience preferred
